LMIC TOXICITY WORKSHOP
This year, CLEAR, in collaboration with Resonance, will host a workshop centered on the ACT for children project. ACT for Children is a multi-stakeholder effort that brings together industry, clinicians, and patient advocates to build the full ecosystem needed to cure a child with cancer. The initiative expands access to innovator medicines – previously inaccessible in LMICs due to regulatory and cost barriers – within a hospital-based quality improvement model.
The workshop will take place on May 24th – May 25th (following the CLEAR conference, May 22nd-24th).
ACT supports the full continuum of care: timely diagnosis, skilled providers, adapted treatment protocols, nutrition and psychosocial support, and comprehensive training. Rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all approach, ACT works directly with hospitals to co-develop locally appropriate solutions. The model ensures every intervention is integrated, measurable, and sustainable.
ACT for Children also generates clinical guidance, monitors real-world outcomes, and informs national policy and investment. The initiative is launching in key hospitals across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, building a global care network one region, one child, one system at a time. At pre-sent the program has launched in 4 hospitals in Armenia, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Indone-sia, with launches in 4 more hospitals in progress in Honduras, Tanzania, and Egypt
Participants from key hospitals will convene to discuss both the clinical and scientific aspects of toxicities, to support common strategies that will improve patient outcomes – directly and through enhanced opportunities for research collaborations across both low, middle, and high-income countries.
